Before the bow
Oil on canvas 200cm × 63cm
First work in my series celebrating Crossroads Pantomimes. Inspired by the colour, energy and atmosphere of the production Dick Whittington, this piece focuses on the young dancers — whose joy and enthusiasm make the magic happen on stage. Painted from the moment just before they took their bow.

About the Project
Theatre Magic is a limited series of oil paintings inspired by the production of Dick Whittington at Plymouth Theatre Royal, created by Crossroads Pantomimes.
With exclusive access to one performance, I captured moments both on stage and backstage — exploring the full atmosphere of the theatre: the colour, energy and excitement of the show, alongside the quieter preparation and activity behind the scenes.
Each painting is created using photo reference taken during my visit, aiming to reveal the emotion, effort and magic that brings the production to life.
More information regarding exhibiting will follow as the project progresses.
I would like to say a huge thank you to Crossroads Pantomimes, and to every member of the cast and crew, for being so welcoming and for making my visit such a perfect and memorable experience. If you would like more information regarding sales, prints or commissions, please do get in touch.
